I guess if all the natural graphite shortage theories hold true, the day is coming where mines will have to be made. When I look at other graphite opportunities, many are way under drilled for having a mineable resource. Also there is a big question mark around infrastructure.
My opinion is that if we target say 100KT per year production, we still need to do more resource definition drilling. We would also need our mining lease altered or increased, and potentially we will have short term water and power supply problems. If we keep things small we can potentially hook into the power and water just like any other customer. Being first to Market has huge upside, and expansion plans can easily be added. The very high grade from surface will easily make this a very profitable and attractive proposition. Being shovel ready, with a reduced amount of capital, will make this probably the lowest risk Graphite Mine to get off the ground in the shortest possible time. I think the strategy is the right one and will hasten shareholder return.
If we go exploring for more, spend more millions on resource definition. Modify our mining lease to include Kopio and Kookaburra Gully Extended, We also need to wait for the already planned government desalination plant on Eyre Peninsula to be completed to get all of the water we need. We would also need build a new substation to get the power off the existing 275KV power line to port Lincoln. All very achievable, but it will delay everything by 2-3 years and require more cap raisings and dilutions.
By then we could be fighting it out with many other Graphite hopefuls for funding to getting the mine operational. We might be small but we could be the first up and running.
