Blackmarketing of fertilisers: Official warns Hyderabad dealers

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Agriculture EDO Shuhabuddin Siddiqui, taking serious notice of black-marketing and hoarding of fertilisers in the market of Hyderabad, has directed the fertiliser dealers trading in the district to declare their present stock position and submit the same to his office on daily basis otherwise they would face legal action.
He directed this while presiding over a meeting regarding the availability of fertilisers in the market at his office on Thursday. The meeting, which was attended by the growers, representatives of fertilizers dealers, district and deputy district officer of the agriculture extension of Hyderabad district, discussed the difficulties and losses being faced by the growers due to an artificial shortage of fertilisers.
Siddiqui said that the prime minister had announced the fertilisers’ package under which a subsidy of Rs 250 per bag was given to the growers but due to an artificial shortage and black-marketing in some parts of the districts, the growers are not receiving the benefits accordingly.
He directed the fertiliser inspectors to be strictly vigilant over this issue and monitor the availability of fertilisers in the market. He also directed them to check the stock registers of dealers and ensure that the price lists are displayed on the prominent places of the dealers shop. He warned that in case of not producing the relevant record to the fertiliser inspectors, legal action would be taken against the dealers. The EDO said that the meeting to ensure the availability of fertilisers now would be held regularly on monthly basis.
