PSX is likely providing the needle coke needed to make synthetic graphite. I believe they are the only supplier of needle coke in the US, making them an important ally. PSX is the forth largest oil company in the US in terms of market capitalization, in addition to being politically connected and likely interested in any "green" tie-ups.
