After re-reading the announcement, I think I now see what they were trying to say, which, imho, they expressed poorly. What I now think they meant, was, By having the process/IP patented in the USA, it gives EGR protection against someone in a country that has scant regard for IP/patents cloning/pirating the process and selling its finished product into the USA.
