it's a shame that you view it as gambling (especially a game where the expected value is a loss, but that is probably right if you buy today - so maybe an appropriate analogy!).
the guys who are taking payment in shares are the ones who crashed the company. if they knew anything they wouldn't be in this situation.
say price is 0.6c today and they manage to bump it to a high of 0.9c and raise at 0.5c on a discount to 15-day WVAP basis. who wins? those who waited.
now imagine if stays at 0.6c and they raise at 0.4c. those who waited win even more.
