It's definitely going to be an interesting couple of months as coronavirus cases are currently accelerating. International flights are said to be halted until at least 2023, so it may take a couple of years before we see success from Bain Capital's business plan for Virgin.
It's also worth noting that regarding the sale of Virgin Australia, Deloitte did not return the calls, emails or messages from Cyprus. Hence, I'm unsure how the whole transaction and sale will pan out in favour of investors as Deloitte didn't seem to take Cyprus' bid seriously. Bain was chosen not because they were picked as the best viable option, but because Cyprus withdrew due to Deloitte not managing the sale process effectively.
Looking at what is happening at the moment with other major Australian airlines, it could be a while before any profit to investors can be seen. It could be a while before we see any effect from Bain Capitals acquisition, but I don't feel there will be any change in the Virgin business this financial year as we are just about to experience the second peak of the coronavirus outbreak which will further dampen their financials whilst their fleet is internationally grounded.
