I think the official explanation would have to be that both companies were running low on cash and wanted to prioritise commercialising a discovery. The placement/SPP should solve that for MEL, but I can imagine that we'll need to wait a little longer due to Vintage's cash position.This SPP, if successful as expected, puts us in an extremely solid position going forward. Looking back I am a little miffed that they performed the buyback, but clearly they thought at least one previous drill was likely to be a success.
