I hate to be such a pessimist but the current share price has a lot to do with what a company would offer in a takeover scenario.
MEL is an obvious target as I believe that many acquirers would be content with the guys at Vintage Energy remaining as Operators as they are industry experts and would probably not be content being mere employees of a larger outfit.
