It's quite ironic that our governments have now become so energy conscious. I'm a long termer as well, it is beyond belief that Metgasco's tenements were cancelled and we had to fight a legal battle to get back a paltry $25M after spending $125M in developing those assets. Rosella, Kingfisher etc had the potential to be one huge gas field, potentially one of the biggest in inland Australia. We needed the gas, we needed the jobs, the NSW gov't could've used the royalties and it was looking to be a multi bagger for shareholders...but...it got too hot politically. Lock the Gate morons and weak kneed pollies just scrambling to save their arses within a pervading culture of free bottles of Grange and whatever else was going down did us in. NSW Government should be ashamed, hardly a model corporate citizen in their dealings over time...now everyone is paying more for energy.
They should reinstate our tenements and cough up the $100M they shortsheeted us, can't see it happening but realistically if Kingfisher & Rosella had been allowed to proceed everyone would've been ship loads better off.
