Vintage Energy has completed the second of four operation phases to bring the Vali gas field into production.
The well completion campaign announced 11 July 2022 concluded with the four wells; Vali-1 ST1, Vali-2, Vali-3 and Odin-1 set up for gas production.
There has been no change to the previously announced expectations for the delivery of first gas by October 2022.
Vintage Energy and additional joint venture (JV) partners are continuing to work together to bring the Vali gas field into production in order to provide a new source of gas for east Australia.
Vali is estimated to be capable of supplying an estimated 9 PJ to 16 PJ of gas to AGL in the period from field start-up to end-2026 under the Gas Sales Agreement (GSA) which was announced 23 March 2022.
Gas committed under the GSA, the first supply agreement for the company, is estimated to represent 9 to 16 per cent of the field’s proved and probable reserves of 101 PJ.
Gas produced from the field is to be transported to Moomba for processing prior to sale.
All three Vali wells in addition to Odin-1 are officially equipped as gas producers. The completed wells were flowed for short periods following completion operations for clean-up. It is not planned to flow test the wells until the field is connected to infrastructure and the gas produced is processed for sale.
“We now have four gas wells completed, ready for connection and gas production. It is a significant milestone for our company and for the process of bringing new gas from Vali and Odin to the east coast market,” Vintage Energy’s managing director Neil Gibbins said.
“Most importantly we have reached this point free of lost time injuries and reportable environmental incidents.
“Our focus now shifts to pipeline installation and facilities construction. Fabrication is underway and we look forward to receipt of major equipment items in the coming months around which we will take the project to completion.
“Subject to these delivers, we remain on track for first gas in October.”
