    Hi stumpytrunks,
In my view, high gas shows do not necessarily translate into good permeability. As we know, permeability is how well the porosity (which is the gaps / spaces between the sand grains where gas, oil and water may be located) is connected throughout the reservoir. Shales / source rocks typically have reasonable porosity but low permeability. Hydrocarbons within these source rocks are released when the rock is "broken up" by the bit and subsequently recorded at the surface as gas / oil shows. Don't get me wrong, it's positive to have high gas readings but I would caution against linking those to good permeability - sorry. Low permeability reservoirs generally require fraccing to get them to flow at commercial rates. Hopefully Vali-1 will not need this and the sandstones encountered will flow naturally by themselves at 1-2 mmscf/d. Hoping they are gas-charged.....

    Kind regards OldGeo
