The other curious question from the assay work will be whether the hidden grade uplift continues.

The highly simplified process is that assay work establishes the grade of the material being processed. A recovery technique is undertaken which obtains some gold and the amount of gold recovered is established. An assay is also done on the remaining material. This enables a calculated head grade (what was recovered plus what's left). It also enables recovery rates to be calculated.

From historical leach tests with a 75um grind size, the results from 14 samples from different areas of ore were reported in the table below. The average assay head grade was 1.82g/t. The average residue grade was 0.14g/t. The average recovered gold isn't shown in the table but is 2.03g/t. When combined with the residue the calculated head grade of the sample was 2.17g/t. The final recovery rates were 93.7% of the calculated head grade.

Relative to the assay head grade, recoveries were 111.6% of this total (believing the material to be 1.82g/t and obtaining 2.03g/t from it).

While previously discussed laterite is part of the sample causing this effect, there are another 6 samples (D3 High, G3 Ave, C4 High, B7 Low, B7 High, C8 Ave) where the calculated head grade is more than 0.4g/t above the assay established head grade. There's only one sample that was more than 0.4g/t below the assay value (B7 carb.). Something is causing quite large variances between Head Grade and Calculated Head Grade.

While having recovery rates above 100% of the assay value is odd, its also not unheard of either. TOR within its Paris gold deposit in the Goldfields (Mid way between Mt Marion and Bald Hill) has also reported this effect in both 2023 and 2024 sets of met test work.
