    Good Find, Hitman.

Yes the original cost per scan was set at US$175 per XV Ventilation test, but I believe Andreas has lowered the cost for the VA to US$171 to get the deal over the line.

“By removing the requirement for capital expenditure, 4DMedical reduces potential hurdles in the sales process and delays caused by budget approval committees. 4DMedical’s ‘pay per use’ model is attractive to hospitals as it represents relatively low commercial risk compared to other capital intensive respiratory diagnostic modalities. Additionally, scan costs are priced strategically at approximately US$175 per XV Ventilation test, being marginally less than the cost of a CT scan once X-ray imaging costs are included.”

Having already negotiated the price, and now having Vanderbilt confirm 4DX’s XV tech can detect ‘CB’ in Veterans where the existing incumbent modalities have failed (pulmonary function tests, CT scans and Nuclear medicine respiratory scans), in addition to Dr. Szema’s testimony before the U.S. Senate Committee on Burn Pits (mentioning 4DX by name), I’d say it’s a shoo-in the VA deal will be approved.

However, the main advantage with XV Tech lies not with its diagnostic ability (although that has now been clearly proven), but in its capacity for constant monitoring of various Respiratory diseases resulting in multiple visits per year (see graph below - Annual mortality figures).
    • Asthma: 339 million (approximately 4.5%) 0.5 million, 0.9% of total deaths
    • COPD: 251 million (approximately 3%) 3.2 million, 5.7% of total deaths
    • LRTIs: Infections of the trachea, bronchi, and lung parenchyma, and include pneumonia, influenza, bronchitis, and bronchiolitis. The SARS-CoV-2 virus, the cause of the Covid-19 pandemic, can cause LRTIs: 2.6 million, 4.6% of total deaths
    • Tuberculosis: ~10 million new cases 1.4 million, 2.5% of total deaths
    • Lung cancer: ~2 million new cases 1.9 million, 3.4% of total deaths

The U.S. is estimated to have 6,176 hospitals with expenses considerably higher than most developed countries. Once 4DX gain reimbursement for XV Technology there it should drive growth significantly.

All in all it represents a very intriguing time for the company and big money is made while coy's like this are still in their infancy. I have added more to my positions the last two weeks, buying the close on the 26th and then off the 20 day MA on the 31st. Will the sp go lower? Most likely. The US closed in the red last night and there is certainly more pain to come, a lot more pain. I'd hate to be overleveraged right now the way things are going, many, if not already, will be tremendously hurt.
    But therein lies opportunity.
