If they were in discussions for 18 months, it will come out in emails. Having been through something similar, it will be painful. And for those that say VMC can’t afford it - you’ve obviously never been through this kind of thing before. Most of the grunt work is not done by the QC, but much cheaper lawyers along the way. Again, speaking from experience. Good luck if you think this will go away. All that said, based on logic, our case was a lay down, and we lost. So I wouldn’t (and won’t) be surprised either way...
