If you go back through some of the Harvest news you will see the trend in bandwidth reduction is outstanding. Regular posts around HD video being streamed at 128kb/s and their wearable device all the way down to 32 kb/s. That's video at less than dial-up speed in old money.

Netflix uses "about 1GB of data per hour for streaming a TV show or movie in standard definition and up to 3GB of data per hour when streaming HD video".

Translate that to satellite capacity and you can see the advantages the absolute need for data reduction.
