Clinton has always made it clear that the primary commercial focus for VHD Graphite is AI, data centers, and renewables, where fast heat dissipation is critical. In these applications, diffusivity is the key performance metric, as it determines how quickly heat spreads across a surface, preventing hotspots. Thermal conductivity, on the other hand, is more relevant for applications like EV batteries and industrial furnaces, where heat must be transferred over longer durations. Since EVs were only ever mentioned as a future opportunity, it makes sense that conductivity testing is secondary to demonstrating the material’s effectiveness for heat sinks and AI cooling first.
