Excellent summary of the facts + forward view on the larger global HIV self-test market. Agree 100% this will expand AT1's market presence + all the free press this ann will generate alone is worth millions in ads (AT1's brand is being attached with Viatris + WHO/UnitAid in news that will reach almost all countries globally)

This deal (using Viatris-AT1 + Abbott tests) will actually take market share away from OraSure HIV self-test brand in these 135 countries. "...achieving broader testing has been hampered by the fact that the market for HIV self-tests in low- and middle-income countries has been dominated by a single affordable oral HIV test, the OraSure. That test is sold at cost in a limited number of poorer countries for $2, but elsewhere the price is higher, and other options have cost significantly more."

This also adds weight to Viatris-AT1 seeking US FDA approval for HIV self-test product launch in Nth/Sth America markets (where OraSure again is the dominant OTC brand).

AT1's device dev reason + company core principles + the Global Fund investment + the ASX listing were all done on the basis that it would provide higher quality healthcare testing for LMIC countries (at lower cost), which are offset by much higher profits/margins in richer 1st/2nd world countries for the same tests.
