re: Ann: Victorian Government Orders Thirty B... Once again VIC shows the way. VIC developed CFU, had the first demos and now has the first serious order. When the excess is fed into the grid and the units prove themselves reliable insitu, then we can expect large scale orders and production/installation & maintenance cost efficiencies.

It was always going to need Govt initiated buying. With the ageing and somewhat crippled coal-fired power stations politically on the nose, support for CFU has political pragmatism stamped all over it.

Christina K could well make a similar announcement in the run-up to the next NSW election (due early 2011).

Presumably the 30 units will be 100% home grown for now at least. This order and any like subsequent orders might stimulate further manufacturing interest say from Japan in all likelihood. CFU produces powder in the UK for their fuel cells in Germany and Japan produces the finished product marketed under the trusted Rheem banner, maybe.

This could well be the tipping-point after all these years, I reckon.
