I think we shall soon see. As per usual with EU Horizon 2020 projects, the members have to do a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) where they compare their technology (without giving away IP) to current technologies being used. They will usually look at things like CO2 emissions, chemical consumption, energy consumption, waste streams and other parameters throughout the value chain involved in the project. Toward the end of the project these LCA's are normally made public. I will be interested to see how it stacks up compared to current SX tech.
