If they've hit the upper range, they may just inform KKR that they need to lift the offer for it to be taken seriously. It wouldn't benefit anyone if they flatly rejected the bid. Even if they have no intention of accepting the offer, getting KKR to lift the offer very delicately should attract other buyers to the table as they'll be seen as serious sellers and at the same time will set a new floor for the SP. Win/win the panda.
