I don't think it's all that complicated. Fairly obvious to most that a director who knows what the company is doing is well placed to make a decision on whether to put his or her money on the line buying stock om market. Perhaps the article is too old for you but the principle IMO would not have changed much.
But I guess you just don't want to see anything positive. None so blind as those who will not see.
