I haven't followed this particular saga, but yes, it's naive of anyone to imagine they don't leave electronic fingerprints whenever they post on a public forum. Courts can order forums such as this to reveal the identities behind the avatars. ASIC has in the past pursued individuals here for market manipulation.

The obvious recent example was Fibonarchery, an active poster on the day trading forum and other threads, who copped a two-and-a-half year jail sentence last year for market manipulation.
