One thing which I learnt from the Mining and Oil and Gas industries was that most institutional investors don't like companies with a billion plus shares on issue and a share price of less than 50 cents. Consolidation (usually on a 1 for 10 or 1 for 20) basis often paved the way for institutional investors to start taking an interest.
