“No doubt that some of this will be usable, but this is but a small portion of the gear that goes into building a mine and this would have been stored for more than 10 years in a high rainfall environment which isn't great for electrical gear, among other things. ”
The gear is packed for sea freight from overseas origins and then packed inside sea containers. Every chance it’s shrink wrapped. The same electrical gear that mostly sits out in the weather or in open sheds anyway during its operation albeit some of it resides in control rooms and electrical boxes. Most I would say is prebuilt prior to shipping in boxes with the IP rating for DRC weather.
I did hear from conversations at the Feb EGM the gear was in surprisingly great condition. At that time they said it will need the conventional once over for gear that has effectively “sat on the warehouse shelf” for so long. A small percentage they expected was unusable or outdated.
