I've also compared AVL with TMT using their latest NPV/IRR numbers (post # 58713747). I agree with you that it would be better to use the BFS from AVL, but it ain't available yet. Nor is the updated DFS for the (GVP and Yarrabubba combined) for TMT (due mid 2022). Some will give the VR8 table due credit because it was compiled independently of AVL and TMT.
