I believe I have found an explanation for the curious case of the 558mmboe carboniferous assessment.
In short, its wrong and appears to be from an earlier miscalculation made in the 2014 annual report. The 2013 report shows the aggregated figure 581mmboe as shown in the latest Financial Report of this year, yet the 2014 report shows the 558 figure as does the presentation documents of 2015 and 2016. So looks like MEO have finally realised the mistake and corrected it. Ive done my own calculation of the base figures supplied in the reports (which are unchanged in all three reports) using the 80:20 ratio of oil to gas/liquid scenarios and it accords with the aggregated figure of 581mmboe. but please, make your own calculations to confirm it.
So, the only issue now for me is the omission of the Ordovician. Perhaps the reason for that that will be revealed in a subsequent announcement. Hopefully!

Todays Good oil Presentation announcement regarding 488 appears to be just a cut and paste from the August '16 Corporate presentation document and thus, still using the 558mmboe aggregated figure. Sigh!
