Price can often lead 'fundamentals'/ public information, perhaps the first 8% gap down in the SP was big investors dumping on capital raising rumours. Nevertheless the fact remains, price will leave footprints indicating to us what the big investment funds/ investors are doing, they are the money that moves markets, not you and I, and they often have access to more information whether through detailed modelling and direct connections.
