Hi Mick.
I make plenty of dud calls myself mate.
As far as trading goes I trade in many different ways.
One method I am using at the moment is accumulating weakness with bids well below market levels.If one bid gets hit then I have a lower bid in place in case of a spike lower.
This to me is the best way to accumulate because picking the actual bottom is too difficult.
Jumping in with both feet from my perspective is unwise because of the above.
This is the best way for me to trade at this point as gold stocks have been ground into the dust and nobody wants to buy them.
This is value investing and value has to be known or you don't know where to buy.
The technicals will certainly help but in this heavily rigged market they can be less reliable.
Once a bottom is confirmed and an upside move begins then I pay attention to the technicals to gauge the strength of the move.
Its a bit complicated because there is so much to it.It take a long time and a lot of effort to develop the feel for whats happening.
I follow relative strength indicators plus momentum among all sorts of other inter related signals.
The advice I would give you, would be to keep it as simple as you can.
Some people tie themselves in knots with technical jargon which might sound good but for the most part it's meaningless drivel.I've read bits of books but never really got into them.
There's a guy called Rick Ackerman who runs a course called hidden pivots.If your interested in TA then its not a bad place to start getting your head into it.
The biggest problem is emotion.You cannot trade emotion.Understanding technicals will certainly help there.
