No they drill under road then pull threw.i worked on the sydney to melbourne pipeline 1999.some of the drills were amazing.off a bluff under a major river back up.1 to 2 ks approx.so drill run a straw line pull pipe threw.cant remember exactly but think around 2 feet diameter. Will brothers american mob were spread losses .some times pipe got stuck so pull back out.pipes under rivers were cased in cement,so u can imagine the wieght in a string.great job.
