Although I expect that because it has only been released in australia, they only have servers here, it means that connecting to servers in other countries at the moment won't have the same impact on data and speed. Luckily most companies have servers world wide?
I think surfing and using your phone as normal whilst testing will be of better use.
Data is a very commodity so the more downloads the better.
