I'm not sure how this could be 'the end'. If apps were going to be a problem (and that's a big if) they would surely take their technology into other software options.
Having read the announcement I would now be in favour of having the app available for Android while Apple stuffs around. I'm an iphone owner and want to get the app asap, but I'd be happy for the company to get on with having the app in the market while the Apple issues are sorted.
