Also, pretending that all innovation has to be revolutionary technologies and business models is an absurdly narrow-minded way to view the world. Innovation in reality is am imperfect, slow moving beast and rarely happens in leaps.
But I do agree with the fundamental differences in business culture between North America and Australia/New Zealand. I've personally witnessed startups sputter and get nowhere because they try to run 'lean' (as if it's a good thing) instead of throwing as much money as possible at it for maximum growth like the Americans do.
