(From the AFR) There was also an update on Afterpay Money, after the deal with Westpac to offer deposits. An ”Afterpay Money” stand alone app will formally launch in the first quarter of 2022, it said, with a pilot underway.

Afterpay also explained its intent to take on the major banks by offering their customers an alternative payments and financial management service. The new app will allow customers to add multiple cards to a digital wallet that can be used for payments while a salary is being paid into it. “The app will also display a view of any upcoming Afterpay payments to give customers a fully integrated, single view of their financial position and help them effectively manage their money.”
