Am I right to assume that APT customers will be able to pay off their purchase in one-go, not necessarily using the 4-instalments once the savings account is setup?
From a merchant's perspective it doesn't matter how its customer would repay APT as long as the APT platform helps it drives sale.
If this is true, the implication shouldn't be underestimated: (1) customer base boardened (2) effectively no limit of purchase as long as the 4-instalments option is not used while APT still pockets the merchant's fee (3) from the AFR's article, the banking license still lies in Westpac meaning no extra substantial capital cost. (4) deepening the engagement with customers with their shopping habits and money flow.
