I think people are generally assuming there is some long term short position actively trying to suppress the share price- this isn't the case.
Short term short plays that get closed out inside of a few days, maybe a weeks max is where I'd place my bet for what's happening there. These will be relatively small short positions held on and off by a few algos, which flip to short term long positions once they've closed the shorts. The volatility, liquidity and price structure leads me to think this.

There is unlikely to be some dark master with a huge short position who 'has to cover' and all of a sudden the share price rips to $10.
Wouldn't mind being wrong though
