Interesting to note the possibility of tight gas reservoir at WE5 has already been mentioned a couple of times. What I'd like to try and understand is the likelihood of a tight reservoir here based on the data we know to date:
Announced 21/06: Gross thickness of 183m, made up of almost one single large unit of very clean sand, with thick blocky porosity development. Net pay interpreted to be 32m with average porosity of 10% (up to 15%).
Announced 01/07 - Pressure greater than 7000 psig indicating high degree of permeability, with possibility that porosity is much higher than measured.
The other viable alternative explanation to date is they drilled over-balanced and damaged the formation around the wellbore.
Would be great to hear some thoughts on this
