How did I know it was a PTX shareholder asking that question
The field is moving so fast, that the leaders are now moving beyond CAR-T already and looking to establish NK technology as the go-forward technology to fight cancers. While its still a while away (say the next 5+ years) ... if NK technology is successful it will make CAR-T technology obsolete (like the horse and cart), as the field moves to a new paradigm in NK technology which is inherently safer (doesn't cause cytokine storms + inhibits toxicities) as the NK cell itself is responsible for attacking the cancer cells as opposed to T cells which act like an army general (doesn't actually fight), and calls on troops (like NK cells) to do the fighting.
Having NK-CAR cells basically takes away the need for a general and sends in the black ops team with homing devices attached that directly kill cancer cells, causing minimal disruption to the surroundings and thus is less likely to cause side effects.
So there may well be a window where technology like OmniCAR may be relevant.. but if CAR-T (as great as it is, it has its cons mainly being that it is expensive.. slow and can have nasty side-effects... but compared to walking, a horse and cart is still a major step) is superseeded by NK technology.. then OmniCAR will be an obsolete technology platform because much of what it offers is already inherent in NK technology.
Anyway this is very much into the 5+ year horizon, but I can see it moving toward this direction... it makes a lot of sense, and we just landed ourselves near the front line of global companies chasing this next paradigm shift... pretty impressive for a A$90m market cap ASX listed biotech... but I guess we should expect no less from an elite management team that are setting us up to be a global player in the next several years.. and not just thinking about the next few.
