I have some experience in the funds industry and sadly I don't think this is true. Fundies who run income portfolios (dividend stocks) won't look at nanocaps as they are too small and unpredictable. Fundies who target nanocaps are looking for growth. Companies who pay a dividend are seen to be ex-growth. So if a nanocap pays a dividend, they could likely be stuck in no man's land for institutional support. There could always be exceptions, but I suspect I am right (although happy to be proven wrong).
