The only sane policy globally is the total defeat of aggressive evil military forces. That means forces like Putin's Russia and Hamas and its associates in the Middle East. This must be the lesson from the failure of the Allies in the aftermath of World War 1 and the very much better result of the total defeat of Germany in World War 2 with very generous rebuilding of Europe financed by the USA. We should learn from history and accept nothing but defeat of evil powers. A bit of help from the EU in the Ukraine conflict instead of leaving the heavy lifting to the USA taxpayers would have helped and Trump may have made a change there! Defeat of either or both the current evil forces would be no great burden if the forces for good would make a bit of effort and support the people who are fighting against evil.
