It does seem drastic but it’s not just resources they are after. That war made record profits for their military industrial complex too. Many of their politicians are well exposed to stock and businesses and all sorts of things. Not to mention the overall economy of the USA. That war should have ended in 2022, but Boris Johnson and Biden sabotaged the initial peace talks and then went on escalating it. Love or hate trump and all the stupid stuff he says with tariffs and attacks on allies etc, at least he is actually attempting to search for peace and start negotiating like he said in his campaign trail.
