On 30 May 2024, POSCO and the Hazer Group announced that they had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The aim of the collaboration is to explore the integration of Hazer’s technology – a process for low-emission hydrogen and synthetic graphite production from methane – into POSCO’s steel manufacturing operations. The primary focus is on reducing CO₂ emissions within the steel sector.According to the official release, the parties will examine:
how Hazer’s technology can be applied within POSCO’s steelmaking processes,
whether theresulting graphite by-product can be used industrially in steel production,
