The number of shares and the number of voting rights does not...

The number of shares and the number of voting rights does not change. It is the "apparent volume" and price that changes as a result of the transaction. The voting rights help big players "accumulate" but stay under the mandatory reporting threshold.

Consider the hypothetical case where, in a corporate sense, C, B and A all have the same great grandmother, or are fourth cousins twice removed and their links are buried in some cascading trust documents held by custodians in the Cook Is. The Cook Is Custodians dont have a clue who is who. The alphabet family use brokers, who in turn use other Custodians to transact with the Cook Is custodians. Meanwhile the alphabet families work out the details amongst themselves - via "agreements" that make it all look like arms length transactions. The agreements are not public. Only the effective transaction gets publicised in the 5% disclosure. Now think of many "alphabet families" working towards a common goal...Whilst some of the details in this explanation may not be correct, conceptually, my opinion is this is how it rolls.

PS Most of the buying and selling happens from off screen buyers and sellers. The single figure bot trades are signals for the other bots to do their job.
