The only reason the curve is flattening is because of the lockdown. In-order to continue this downward trend, one has to continue the strategy they used in-order to bring it down in the first place. The moment you lift the lockdown, people will be given a false sense of security and will go about their business. Guess what happens? A second wave of cases.

A city in China had to go into lockdown again last week due to a spike in cases after they lifted the lockdown, and it's happening in South Korea again. Bear in mind these are countries who have taken containment measures to the EXTREME & who have citizens that wear masks as well as follow guidelines. The west will never be like the east in terms of following government rules & that culture is why we have been hit so hard.

It seems like people are under the impression this will be done by next week. The government has said that this lockdown will extend until Christmas, with the very likely possibility it can continue after that. The concern I have then is the economic impact this virus will have if we go into a 6-12 month lockdown.

The only way to end this fiasco is with a vaccine, which is why governments and private entities are racing around the clock to find one.
