when you own shares you get documents stating how many shares you hold and the type of security it is.
when you own shares you can trade them or hold and receive dividends when the company is making an income and profit.
Sorry to say but you will not see any dividends coming your way or benefiting from the increase in value of the share price.

Not true. I trade through Interactive Brokers - same deal as IG. I was able to participate in the SPP. And we will certainly be benefitting from appreciation in Share Price. We should also get dividends
