too everyone - to many to tag and hit reply on...

Some great posts above that really give clarity to the origin of weebit and where they are now on their pathway to productisation....

strategic pathway very clear and collaboration work continuing in parallel with partners

Understanding where Skywater PDK is aiming and with who / why is a very big part of the every device scenario that has been mentioned many times.....and yes, its realistic

yes- the application specific integrated circuit......market

'projected to be one of the most lucrative segments'.....thats where the weebit 130nm node /Skywater PDK is planned ...and its been planned since 2020 in conjunction with google and now weebit reram is negotiated into that space.....its huge and that is not an exaggeration....'soft touch' straight off the shelf ...DP = $$$$$$

thats why the 130nm dominated the sector in 2021....not my opinion but the simply reality

Skywater is a technology fab - and it specialises in developing and building processes that are compatible with a wide variety of technologies and the they implement unique processes in their production flow. This is why their collaboration with DARPA is so extensive as they redesign and develop new ways to bring life to older nodes and legacy technology ( such as flash in one simple example alone.....as so many informed posters here have highlighted....that alone is a massive market for the reasons those posters stated)...thus innovating those older technologies to 'front of house' competitive advantage

this is where Skywater is implementing ( initially) the weebit offering ....inot Macros.....they need a compiler to make this happen...a few months ago CH stated openly they where going in hard on a compiler....I wondered why he mentioned it from left field essentially so I went digging.....makes perfect sense based on Skywaters plans for PDK open source ASIC.....perfect !

here is one example of the competitve return the company is hunting ( courtesy EETimes)

'The schedule to redesign an ASIC from its current datasheet and be qualified ready for production would be in the order of 14 to 24 months depending on the complexity, first prototype silicon could be with you in less than a year. For automotive products from specification to PPAP would be more like 24 to 36 months, again depending on the complexity. Typical budgets for a 130 nm ASIC would vary depending on the design complexity and IP licensing content but begin at c.$600k, stretching to c.$4M for a full AEC-Q100 qualified component for automotive applications. The cost of 130 nm mask tooling on a 12-inch process is now below $200,000, so relatively small part of the overall cost.'

weebit reduces that cost further and exceeds all current operating metris by a country mile...in that space.....Skywater must have been licking their lips as a technology foundry having this product on offer....thats why CH keeps making the point they are drilling in on Skywater to make it happen asap.....be patient- it is brilliant strategy and its happening.

this info deserves the attention of anyone serious in understanding the long term return in this space for Skywater and Weebit and associated other partners.....and of course its not just weebit obviously ....interestingly PDK open source is also on Global foundries radar at their fdsoi 22nm node....a perfect according according to those connected with the processes of both Skywater and GF......if you wish to fact check that info then dig in on 'open road' and 'open lane'....

these are just roadmap devlopments out of 2020....well they are alot further down this path and the implications for weebit in just this space are mindblowing....imo $$$$

some want another fab....some want customer announcements....some want more development news.....its happening is all I can say ....DD - dig in deep and find the strategic path that DP and CH and the whole company are following - then tack on all te other partner research and industry firsts weebit continue to hit the target with and it will reveal itself to be exactly what those knowledgeable posters here keep posting.....

apologies for the length of this - had to stop here ....so much more to cover...hopefully its clear for a few more see where this is going for a few more now .....

    great weekend all
