Yes you are correct. One of the ideas is that the most common setups within a particular product usage criteria would be produced as "Off The Shelf" product and it is the (for a better word) tunable to a clients requirements, thus reducing a huge amount of development time and time to production.
This way you can have a range of "Styles" to fit different applications which each will be tunable.
