Yeah I got a quick lesson by the gfc. I started in 2006 with $30k, made some nice money and then the gfc hit and I had a breakup at the same time and had to sell at the bottom to settle.
Was the best thing that could have happened I reckon.
Taught me to be cynical about the whole thing and ruthless when it comes to getting out of a losing trade before it really hurts me.
I reckon that's the main game; don't lose too much money and then the rest takes care of itself.
It really is nice to have some decent capital now. Makes it so much easier. I still go for the quick few hundred dollar trades when I see them during the day though.
They're the bread and butter and they add up quickly.
