They are under very tight NDA's and that poses a big problem to SH's as they do not know exactly what is going on and only generally through quarterly announcements are they told anything. This is what happens when your tied up with a Tier 1.
WD will keep on asking more and more before they will buy if they buy.
If you think they will be getting anything for free from WDC/HGST then you would be very wrong. If your not paying now you certainly will be paying when they purchase it.
