kk, given the serious opposition that Xstrata are facing from environmental activist groups such as CEDHA, I think that they may very well agree to pay a premium for their power so that it counts as an environmentally positive result of their El Pachon mega mine.

Xstrata's El Pachon project team have already spent $2.5m to improve the Las Chinchillas National Reserve. The Reserve was established to preserve the endangered Chinchilla which was hunted for its pelt. Apparently, Xstrata have partnered with the National Reserve since 2010.

So, Xstrata have ticked one enviro box by helping save cute furry animals. They've indicated their interest in ticking another enviro box by supporting Argentina's first geothermal power plant. When they sign a PPA and/or invest in the project, we'll be able to say that they've ticked that box.

I'm pretty sure that companies like Xstrata would set aside a certain amount of $$ for environmental programs that have no commercial benefit to the project, but can go a long way towards environmental 'face saving'. I do believe that Xstrata will be there to ensure that our project gets off the ground. Also, I'm fairly certain that they would want to ensure that their key supplier of clean power stays in business. I think we will see some commercially attractive arrangement in due course.
