This is a summary of what is just out in the Australian newspaper. Apparently Wesfarmers made their offer after a proposed JV was turned down. There have been discussions for several months first before the $1.5 billion takeover bid. Wesfarmers wanted Lynas to close down its rare earths processing plant in Malaysia and open another plant in Australia that would be jointly owned with the Perth-based conglomerate. Sorry if this is already out there and I missed it.
